About Me:
I’m a culture writer who’s spent much of my life (sad) trying to convince people to care about country music. As a queer person living in New York, I’m not exactly your average country fan, and that’s beautiful!
I’ve noticed that a lot of people who didn’t grow up with country music feel alienated by it or don’t think that it speaks to their experience. This newsletter is my way of attempting—via passionately argued essays and some solid recs—to convince folx that country music is for them.
By the way, if you like Dolly Parton or Shania Twain, you’re already a country fan. Sorry!

I am so excited to read your newsletter. I have always loved all kinds of music except for heavy metal. I am always fascinated to learn where a song came from, meaning behind it or information on the artist.
